The Area

Ryelands House is situated 7 miles south east of Lincoln. There the Norman Cathedral stands at the top of Lindum hill next to the castle where it is clearly visible from a vast part of the county.

The cathedral has a most varied past but most recently it was used as a substitute for Westminster Abbey in the filming of the Da Vinci Code; a point not lost on host Michael as he spent three days filming as an extra playing the part of a mourner at the funeral of Sir Isaac Newton.

Twenty minutes drive away are the quaint towns of Horncastle and Woodhall Spa.
The market town of Horncastle was once a Roman fortress town in Lincolnshire Wolds and is now packed with antique shops, shops and ‘eateries’.

Woodhall Spa is a Victorian Spa town as its name suggests and is surrounded by beautiful woodland which you can walk through.
Hidden in the woodland is the antiquated “Kinema in the Woods” as featured in Sky TV’s “Englands Unique Cinemas”.

Woodhall has a fabulous 36 hole golf course Which is now home of the English Golfing union.
